I, too, have had a lot of problems scanning Ektar 100. While it took me awhile, I finally got good results using Silverfast software (using the Ektar 100 profile with NegaFix) and doing final tweaking with Photoshop. I can tell you that the standard Epson scanning software (for the 4490 scanner) was pretty much worthless with Ektar 100.
